Whatever Happened To Pyramid Selling?
I'm sure you know that so-called "pyramid" selling is now illegal in most countries. Depends which way you look at it though, doesn't it? Most conventional businesses have someone at the top of the company who takes all the risks and makes all the money - isn't that a pyramid?
These days making residual income has become far more sophisticated and much easier to achieve. Companies like Amway (http://www.amway.com.au), which started in 1959 with two founders and one product , now have websites in countries all over the world where distributors can order goods and services - all online. Multi Level Marketing is really now old terminology and Network Marketers is a much more descriptive term for successful individuals who now build networks of consumers all over the globe.
The idea of selling by WOMBAT (Word Of Mouth Best Advertising Tool) is as old a concept as the human race. Even cavemen would have found a good maker of flint axe heads and told their friends and family about him. That old idea of network marketing being "making money out of your friends" is no longer a widely held belief - If you find a good bargain in the shops or watch a good movie, why wouldn't you tell other people about it?
We are all struggling to pay for those big houses and expensive cars - why not get paid for spreading the good word by becoming a member of a networking company rather than doing it for free for Hoyts or Coles? You will also find that if you research these companies a lot of the online product lines are exclusive to their networks and not available through retail outlets. Manufacturers are getting wise to the fact that they can distribute product without all the usual high costs like shelf position and advertising. By using a network of people already in place they have a whole consumer market ready to buy product online. Add to all these benefits the convenience of shopping when and from wherever you like as well as having it all delivered to your door, the whole deal becomes a lot more appealing.
For more and more people who live busy lives, shopping for boring household items is a waste of their oh so valuable time. If you can have everyday products like toothpaste and toilet paper delivered automatically on a regular basis why wouldn't you do something more productive or more enjoyable with your leisure hours. I buy a lot of items online which just turn up on a monthly schedule without me having to spend any time at all. I still go shopping but these days I do it for enjoyment rather than necessity and find that because I have more time to browse the shelves in supermarkets I am more aware than ever before of what product ranges are available and what they cost.
Saving time and money aside who would not benefit from extra income which gets paid whether or not you actively work? For a very small outlay and with minimal time invested anyone can start their own business and generate passive income. There is a lot of satisfaction seeing an amount appear in your bank account for which you did not exchange hours of slog in an office or other work environment.
For anyone who never has enough hours in a day (and let's face it, we all have the same amount of time, we just use it differently) building themselves a residual income sometimes seems like just something else for which they don't have time. But think again - does it make sense to put extra time into a job that will only ever provide an income while you're working or to put that spare time into an asset which can potentially pay you while you're asleep?
There are lots of options out there and lots of information on the web. If you decide to go ahead and start your own business with a view to producing residual income look for companies that have a good record, have been in business for at least five years and whose products are marketable. Good ongoing research and development are also essential with trends changing all the time. Find a mentor who has done the same thing you are being expected to do - he or she can help to fastrack your efforts by showing you the easiest way to succeed.
In today's uncertain economic climate building a secondary income is a wise step - plan for your golden future and your children's - most residual income is willable - check that out too.
